Itching And Skin Irritation – Hemorrhoids often secrete mucus which can come in contact with the skin around the anal opening causing itching and irritation.
Discomfort – Internal hemorrhoids are not generally painful, rather discomfort would be a better description of the symptom, usually on defaecation and a burning feeling. In addition, though you have just emptied your bowels, you may still feel like you need to carry on. This sensation is triggered by the nerves in the bottom part of the large intestine.
Description Of Hemorrhoid Symptoms – External
Pain - Caused by general swelling and inflammation around the anal area. The act of defaecation alone can be painful.
Lumps – You can feel these lumps in the anal lining which will probably be a little tender. If a situation arises where the blood supply is cut off to the hemorrhoid itself, the blood inside the hemorrhoid can pool and clot resulting in what is called a thrombosed hemorrhoid and can cause excruiating pain.
Bleeding – Noticeable streaks on the toilet paper after wiping, caused by the passage of hard stools and possibly cleaning the anal area a little too roughly.
Irritation And Stinging – Usually after having a bowel movement.
